Exactly. I am writing a story about colonizing Africa by British. They treated people like hell, yet thought they were doing the right thing because they bring civilization to barbarians.

That tone pretty often shines through between the lines of those protagonists which keep making the big media reports.
Like enthusiastically believing "the bad people we find here, and we and our allies bring the light to the people!". Over and over again, ironically...
