For my understanding of things, it's some fucking time to put the topic "sports medicine" on the table, if you know what I mean.
Performance spikes that fall to ashes during the upcoming time - you know, that screams for something else being in the soup too.
And this even applies if you have a team like the German one where half of the established soccer players left after the last World Cup - new people need to be sharpened and build up to reach the same abilities like the players before. But physical building up needs time to result in a fruitful harvest - sports medicine involving substances would need this too. You know, you want to build up successful players, not kill them quickly, right?
So you have to work with them for a while, for a couple of years persistently... Which is a little too much time needed for the in-between time of the international tournaments to go smoothly from one win to another.
