That would be a point to fight about - who controls who.
But for sure, one thing media does these days is to fight for interests their governments have too inside their core (lobbyists).

The best example for information war is currently the war in Syria, I guess.
If you follow back the source of news which Europe and America receive, you stumble upon that they all come from one and the same source; an office in London. Since there is only one office of a news agency I know that is held in London, I strongly guess it must be Thompson-Reuters.
The only other official information sources you can have about the conflict are the ones from Russia and around - but for those you already need to visit the net if you live in a western country. Nothing of their point of view gets mentioned in traditional one-way media - or it is only laughed about without ever being checked if it might be true.
