The C-word

The wider you turn West the more the only association to Communism seems to be the Soviet Union.
Smart mind wonders why since it was not the only country which proclaimed to follow this kind of system. Think of Cuba, think of the GDR, think of Venezuela in these days.
It also appears to happen that people closely link the matter of corruption to the system of Communism, rather than to Russia itself - because it was the way in the Soviet Union.
Further look would tell them that corruption is not a matter of a political system. The cronyism-society of current Western capitalistic system should be a good example to state that it's not filled with fairness too. Also it would tell them that corruption is a well-kept tradition on Russian territory, independently of who is the king now.
For the economy goes the same. It's not all about inefficiency and shortage, about being behind and living on a low standard. If you take the circumstances of the time into consideration, political isolation, economical isolation, putsches in fellow countries and many other aspects, you should get a different picture of the game. Including how the challanging economical circle worked its way out.
Additionally, before mocking take a look at your own system. Do you always get what you want? Do seller and manufacturers always offer you what you need?
What about the quality?
And - where do they take it from?
Considering all these questions makes the accusations and prejudices made to the C-word look less like they're fairly reasonable.
As it seems, it seems to be a question of knowledge. Do you know what you're talking about or do you repeat somebody's words without further investigation.

It's almost 70 years ago, but it seems like the Truman Doctrine still serves its purposes.
Even for those ones who weren't there or even know who he was.

It isn't honest capitalism, that's for sure. Systems look good on paper, and then humans get involved and it all goes to hell.

Why Communism MUST FAIL

Communism and socialism can not be allowed. People in the US are 100 percent brainwashed and believe their owner's propaganda without question. They hate communism and socialism not because it does not work. They hate these because of how they work. A society where everyone is equal and entitled to anything is horrific to them. Communism and socialism would take care of the poor. In the capitalistic system everyone worships the rich. The rich are the winners. Everyone else are losers. The rich are never corrupt. Any means they use to get and keep their wealth is just their way of doing business so long as they can get away with it.

There is no empirical evidence to support the assertion that the poor or non-rich are poor because of their lack of industry and bad habits. The fact that diversions like drugs, alcohol and gambling are criminal enterprises that support the rich.

This current economic system of greed is unsustainable.

Any plan that the 1% can take care of themselves and everyone else can go to hell will not end well.

Utter Blindness to One's True Self Interest

I find this really bewildering. I really do not like propaganda and mind control. I believe that attempting to control the masses by cultivating the most depraved in human nature is going to back fire very badly.

Right now the American Right wing really believe that they are going to be rewarded for their blind devotion to their owners.

It should be clear enough by now that the 1% are nothing more than criminals who will promote their good at the expense of everyone else.

Expanding My Horizons

This is one of the main reasons I got onto LJ. I am absolutely bewildered by the fact that I can barely make sense of politics in other English Speaking countries.

I find most Germans to be really circumspect about politics especially when it comes to their political beliefs.

There is a lot of interesting stuff in your journal. I am looking forward to reading more.
