End of fantasy

There won't be a return of easier times.
There won't be a time without cars, without television or without widespread mobility.
There will only be times of shortages, of temporary inavailability, which can last from days to years, but they won't last forever.
Also there won't be a return of labor done through human hands instead of machines.
Humans dreamed of it already centuries ago and all it went was further, not back.
Inventions mankind once has made and popularized - they won't vanish, they will only be replaced with other higher inventions.
There will only be new inventions coming to hit the everyday life, things they don't know, things that kids will be excited about and the next generation won't know how to live without.

as you correctly said "They get everything done."

so - given enough time... let's just be patient :)

I like the story one way or another. He's a good writer (to my taste). Somewhat sentimental, but within limits.

I've never said it's going to be different now.

I didn't even touch the subject of people wishing things to be as they were (though I agree with you, they do - sometimes).

sure, with that I agree.
