Wrong vision is a vision
Just to put it as evil as reality is: Those who have a vision, even if it is factually wrong, are able by that to do a better job at inspiring people and getting them to act for the higher sake of a matter than those which constantly come up with nothing or just incantations of "you're doing it for yourself" and glorification about empty pseudo-societies.

As for the German AfD, there's a few things you can say with great safety of it being a fact: It is a party created out of circles which couldn't be considered as poor. And that before Lucke left and after Lucke left. It was people being discontent with the course of the conservative CDU, sure a few parts of the FDP which lost in meaning for the federal politics heavily, and then parts of the openly far-right party NPD which were able to do politics at all - meaning, those in the party which had academic titles and which weren't financially poor bastards.
So, in short words: Nothing that arose out of that spheres which have no lobby or no capital to buy themselves a lobby.
This is just basic knowledge where you don't even need to touch speculative territory.
Think for many of the other countries which see similar developments, this is also valid. Nobody from the class of people which have no financial potential or contacts into high positions.
