First news I got to see in the morning. Thought like "What?! Well, gimme Sputnik News, if they write it too, then I can believe it!" - and so it was. (Reason for this reaction is as there have been several times already where Western media tried to talk him dead.) With Castro it's that way - at least you can't make up any big conspiracy theories about his death because a 90-yeas-old man can die any day, that's a possibility that is always there from natural reasons. Interesting enough to see in that perspective anyway: He's gotten 90, but didn't show signs of senility, he carefully watched the world until the very end. And still he seemed to manage to understand what's happening. Some others already start to lose that by the time they have reached age 60...
He lived long enough to show США the middle finger and to make clear for the world "one country which didn't give in, one country that could not be broken by that empire". 'Cause these days it's rather the big empire being in trouble than that island.
About losing all the smart people you're right... Either one loses them to the madness, or to nature itself through death. And one worries who should fill in to that gaps 'cause you don't really find anyone fitting in and living up to that expectations.
To me comes the thought: Take care, Raul. Because he only has 5 years less on the counter... One can only hope to arrange things still in time so Cuba can even live on without him. What way they're heading to is, in general, pretty hard to detect as neutral media news are scarce or at least you need to read special media that care about the South American area. Which makes an extra way, if your schedule in life already is full enough...
