Question of the day #98: My computer is haunted

questionoftheday asks: What's the scariest or most disturbing thing you have ever come across on the internet? (question submitted by firewhispers)
My answer: In terms of "haunted, it would be definitely something like Silent Hill 4. Why? A game which has ghosts in it that follow you all around, harm you and which you can't kill, then there's a serial killer guy running around trying to complete an occult ritual which supposedly is dead, and selected people get drawn into a strange parallel dimension, before they die, which you can strangely enter through a hole in your bathroom wall - then there's definitely some haunting going on on your harddisk.
Other than that, joking aside: The real scary shit of the internet is humans. You know why?
If they perceive you as some object that opposes their opinion and if they feel you as a threat to them, in combination with that, then they're able to produce an inner cinema that makes you ask "Now, what the heck did just go broken??". Accusing you of all kind of stuff which you never said, did or revealed about you, throwing bullshit phrases at you like a Gatling-type machine gun - if it wouldn't be that disturbing, stress your nerves or possibly have other kinds of consequences for you, it was a good comedy show. Seriously.
(Pretty revealing too about the character you just deal with, by the way, in terms of their own prejudices and narrowmindedness.)

Humans are scarier than ghosts, but from their point of view they stick to their ideas and if you don't want to accept them, they consider you narrow-minded. So it is really hard. I personally do not peruse anyone rather let people with similar views flock towards me. Saves you from lots of frustration.

Humans are scarier in that point as they can create fantasies and mental cinema which gives you really a hard time how they actually got to this weird fantasy of theirs.
You know, especially when you gave them no obvious input to generate any of the ideas that they throw at you.
Like, when somebody starts talking about the "world conspiracy of Jews", and you didn't even use the word "Jew" in any sentence.
Or, like it already happened to me, you say something critical about feminism that contained the message "femisnism should stop accusing every man of committing/having committed rape in his life" in it, and then suddenly you find yourself verbally accused of being in the same camp with other abusers and beaters which the person has experienced first hand in her life.
WTF?! No way there was any word about "rape is cool", "beating women should be a civil duty" or any sick crap like that!
But I already receive a ban for that... "Goodbye, verdict has been made by inner cinema - inner cinema never fails!"
I keep shaking my head over it what kind of theater play that was... This was not the film that I generated!
Such kind of shit that you really only slip into, that's kind of scary. Because you wonder "What the heck did go broken now?!", you can't really understand it.
