Why do people make the traditional Muslim dresses a dithering question of "religious freedom" and "culture clash"?
A resolute solution to these questions is rather simple: Treat it with equality.
If it's a trouble in official positions if somebody wears such dresses and pieces of clothes, say: "I don't care if you wear a baseball cap, a cowboy hat, a fishing hat or whatever the fuck - here in this position all people ought to wear no headdresses."
Besides, if authorities are constrained to represent neutrality towards every kind of people, beliefs and political worldviews, then it's not only Muslims that should not wear religious signs, it's also Christians which can't wear a cross while on duty. Or can I wear my goth clothes while serving people in the registry office?
In school, there also used to be a time where I wasn't allowed to wear headdresses, the teacher would take them from me for the class or send me outside and put them into the wardrobe. Sunglasses on - well, if I had a certificate of a doctor saying so that I'd need them. Maybe somebody who's blind they'd never speak up against.
Jackets - only in winter if you said you feel cold. With an ordinary old school teacher - no wearing of your trenchcoat mafia memory dress in class!
So, why the hell screaming out that loud and discussion rounds and rounds about "Are we allowed to touch this? We mess with religion, people!"?
You also hurt the religious feelings of a Jedi if you tell him he can't wear his dress!
But you fucking put him under the term "screwball" and tell him he should integrate to the reality!
Are these feelings less worth than those of a member of a recognized religion?
In political views, it's even worse: Every Marxist gets regarded as "someone who looks at things the wrong way" and as enemy of the state. But let some openly expressing Nazi come, nobody's gonna say a word!
Respect only for those who we want?! What the fucking kind of "human rights activists" are you at all?! You're busy with erecting those dogmas again that your ancestors have been busy with tearing down during the last 100 years!
Some people get witch hunt - some get special protection. Just fucking be honest and tell the world it's not about protecting anyone's feelings about religion or looking at the state of the world, it's about fear, being a coward, and putting back up an age where everything you do is ruled by religions and not by human common sense!
Just fucking tell the world it's about establishing again "those people are different from us, that's why they live seperated from us and they're no part of our class war - they're free to be ignored or killed"!

(Anonymous) 2016-08-28 02:30 pm (UTC)(link)And about Marxists, I think they are rather threatened that is why they make it look like people look at things wrong way, they just want to create a myth it is wrong because, lets face it, Marx theory is difficult and not many people bother to read and understand. They would rather believe propaganda that it is wrong and sit and watch some show on tv or text someone or post a selfie of Snapchat.

You see - well, maybe this position is also wrong or results from wrong understanding -, I'd think the issue wouldn't be as hot if it was not about wearing a headscarf all the time - if this culture also offered something how to not expose yourself too much while going swimmig and if it was totally okay to also hold this position.
The burkini dress comes from a different culture than this and it had a special function in there. It was made for making some more freedom possible for women without anyone being able to accuse them of betraying family honor, bringing shame upon them or any kind of stuff like this.
This culture - European and Western culture - already has decades and centuries of emancipation struggles behind it, so it starts from a certain point already equipped with some freedoms, unlike these areas which literally still start from nearly point zero.
So - this is something that belongs down there, but not in here and so the general common culture regards it as an alien intruder.
I'd think circumstances surrounding this were different if this culture, after its decades-long trip of exposure and even more physical exposure also offered people the possibility not needing to join this choir even from their own fellow humans.
Say, if this culture also knew or accepted it to some part that there are also people in here that don't like this exposure trip and therefor live in a certain kind of way - regardless of religion.
Say, as an example, you see that on how much this is a taboo if someone liked to go swimming with keeping a shirt on just because he has some kind of reason for it - like body shape sizes that you always receive some pejorative comments on or when you have large scars on your body and you don't like to show them publicly to everyone.
It may not be that somebody prohibits you doing that, but you get some strange looks just because it is an assumption in Western culture these days you're prude or fucked up in the brain if you don't like to follow the usual dress code on a beach.
Okay, running around in summer in thick clothes in a place where you don't while it's 30°C among the shares, it's something that goes into the direction of being mentally ill some way because nobody does that as it's totally hot and you're close to melting or fainting.
But, spoken in general, it doesn't need you to wear very think clothes only to cover your skin a little more if you want to.
And that's somehow why it comes into question, why it shouldn't be accepted too?
See, just forgetting about that, it makes you think like they want to press everything into this shape "it's all based on religion" and from then on out they want to plant society changes.
It's wrong that you do some things that do not seem that logical to all people are done out of religious faith. This is totally disinformation.
And just by getting that impression, it makes you wonder what they want to turn this into.
It seems like they want a theocracy in general, no matter which God someone directs his prayers to, main thing that counts is that someone holds a religion at all and through that, they can begin to treat people unequally again. Just because, obsessed with that, people demand for receiving "special rights" again and in the end each group has special rights, which makes all people which don't have these again be willing for a brawl with these people with special rights.
So to say... It's a subtile way of making witch hunt common again and get people from the very lower classes to fight each other over some weird trivial shit again. Reversing the progresses that once had been made in that department (and even preventing further equality development in the future).

...I don't know, if I'm maybe a little paranoid, but this shift in religion seems to me ike a shift that doesn't come over night. It's been a problem for years. It's been a problem for years that if reason your actions with religion, you can just pretty much get away with everything because everyone of these manipulated "leftists" (= social democrats), of these purchased and American-leftist-style-influenced leftists think it is whatever ism and intolerance if they once tell them a word they're not allowed to do a thing. In other words, if you push certain buttons, a lot of people in positions that matter play the coward in order to not be seen as a Nazi, to be reelected again and not be seen in the wrong light publicly.
As somebody else put it pretty well "they (the Westeners) assume, each and everyone in this world has a little white Westerner within him and he only wants to come out so dearly, so we need to help them" - I think that nails it pretty well.
Western social activism takes it as self-evident that everyone in the world wants to live a lifestyle like them because it is the best that there is in the world. It lives in its own dream-world, in it's own bubble that barely has anything to do with the reality.
But because these dreamers are so influent, all people think like this or feel like they're bad people when they come to hold a different position.
And I don't mean typical racist positions. No, no!
What they... fail to notice is: That an African primarily wants to remain an African. He maybe wants Western wealth, but he doesn't want to live like a Westener. There is no little white man in him that wants to be liberal and give rigts to his wife if she had none before under his control.
So it is with other people from different parts of the world.
It even is so with Westeners - even people from the glorious West take their habits with them if they go to live somewhere else. It's a natural circumstance.
And through ignoring this, you have all kinds of that troubles that they complain about in their "culture wars" these days.
It's an unpleasant truth they don't want to hear.
And those who don't want to hear it the most, I'd speculate they're being paid for the nonsense they do or they had teachers which were paid for acting after it and believing in that nonsense.

Problem over here is they still claim everyone is free to think and speak whatever is on his mind, but in practice, if you start complaining about e. g. mosques being built here even in middle-size towns where there can't be such a huge Muslim community, or that suddenly their religious symbols are allowed even in public service while all others can't wear any kind of religious symbols or symbols of personal belief that don't have to do with a registered church, then you're being called a Nazi and witch hunts start on you, you may even lose your job very quickly for that.
Where is the freedom in this? I get signalized there is a certain group of people I'm not allowed to complain about, just in general. Neither meaningful critic as well as meaningless critic.
What kind of fucking freedom is this? This isn't freedom of thought, this is mind police and sweeping dirt under the carpet.
Somebody has more rights than me or every other citizen in this country.
That's how totalitarianism starts. - Even from the sides of the social democrat left.

This what takes place now is like something - just make them run freely, let them do whatever they want to do, even if every normal person thinks just it hurts, couple that in combination with making the regular people feeling like they got the least of rights in this system, and boom! the more extreme the others get, the more the normal people get disgusted by it and anytime they think like "Forbid all these things, they're sick!".
Simple addressing of envy and overdoing things with "liberalism".
In the end, no-one will remember that there've even been people in those groups too which warned about stretching things too far.
