Paralyzed

Too many people living in the past.
Too many people thinking about what was and what could have been.
If there is a war comming towards you, there is no more relevance to how easy and understandable the past was - there's just dealing with realities and how you get away with your skin alive.

It doesn't mean to throw away everything that once existed.
You are allowed to celebrate and appreciate the culture of the past, if you prefer it over the present one.
But you've got to realize that it was and may never return again in this constellation.
The cogs of time can't be reversed.
The present, no matter how much it resembles a moment of the past, is different and the project of once won't be realizable the same way that it once was.

The present doesn't live of your wishes, how you want it to be.
The present lives of deeds - of behavior.
Sitting round in a tavern or at home and wishing it to be better is not going to grant you a different version of the present.
Drowning in your memories and living in your own world 'cause you don't know what to do won't do so either.
