16 April 2022 12:00 pm2007: A student of the Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University (short: Virginia Tech) in Blacksburg, Virginia, commits a mass shooting, killing 32 people and wounding 17. After that, he takes his own life.
As a legacy, leaving behind a personal case history of mental dysfunctionality and a society, school and legal system who were both neither able to properly recognize his psychical shortcomings, nor to handle these accordingly and help them as needed.
Until the shooting of a self-sworn Jihadist in an Orlando gay nightclub in 2016 and the Las Vegas shooting of a sniper from a hotel room on visitors of a nearby music festival in 2017, this particular mass shooting remained the deadliest one committed by a single perpetrator in US history.
