Two things that strike my eye: First, if an American comes up with new ideas and inventions, he first has nothing else in mind than making money with it. Whatever it is. (I also remember this attitude from the bookface inventor.) And second, stuck in their enthusiasm, they seem to run blind for the question of what the consequences. They do not ask themselves, if it's good what they're doing, if it's for the well-being of mankind, if it's really a help or making them more stupid than before. Always their phrase is "it's good because it does X and that's why we need it".
