"September", "November" and "December" all rhyme with "remember." It's a happy accident that poets have thanked heaven for and sometimes abused. Cue many poems of sad reminiscence, generally featuring falling leaves and naked boughs.....

But what does "October" rhyme with?

"Take thought and be sober
"Tis nearly October...."

But lets not be sober. Lets crank up the cheerfulness to counter the gathering chill and the lengthening nights.....

I enjoyed my solstice. I wore one of my brightly coloured smoking caps in celebration. I'd been feeling my age, but yesterday I was feeling someone else's....

New study finds exercising outdoors is 'superior' to the gym or city: 'Our brain loves nature'

A major finding is that exercise in nature provided far greater mental benefits than urban and indoor environments, with participants reporting much higher levels of joy, calm, satisfaction, and optimism after working out in the outdoors.

On a physiological level, researchers measured that the participants’ heart rates dropped more quickly after a walk in nature. Additionally, heart rate variability, which shows how well the body’s nervous system goes into recovery, was 20-30% higher than the indoor walk.

Participants also reported lower levels of anxiety, irritation, and boredom after exercising in nature. Boredom levels actually increased after walking indoors, the researchers shared.

Today is partly sunny and hot.

I fed the birds. I've seen a mixed flock of sparrows and house finches.

EDIT 9/21/25 -- I put out water for the birds.

EDIT 9/21/25 -- I did a bit of work around the patio.

EDIT 9/21/25 -- I did more work around the patio.

EDIT 9/21/25 -- I watered the old picnic table, irises, patio plants, and a few more around the house yard.

EDIT 9/21/25 -- I watered the new picnic table, septic garden, telephone pole garden, and a few of the savanna seedlings.

Cicadas and crickets are singing.

As it is now dark, I am done for the night.

Name: Celestial

Age: 31

I mostly post about:

my personal life, thoughts, day to day stuff. Sometimes mental health/trauma related stuff. Crafts, occasional outfit photos. Cat pics. I also recently did a huge family photo archiving project, so I want to share some cool old photos and what I know about the people in them.

My hobbies are:

I like dabbling in different types of crafts. Primarily into making beaded jewelry, but I've also been learning stained glass this year and that is really cool. Trying to get into reading again. Taking photos, doing home DIYs, watching a lot of movies and TV. I like fashion, but don't dress up much lately (trying to fix that).

My fandoms are:

not a huge fandom head in the traditional sense anymore. I'm a diehard My Chemical Romance fan since I was literally 10 years old. Also a big Nicolas Cage fan, almost finished with a quest to see every single movie of his. Can't think of many others off the top of my head but I fixate on stuff for a while and then forget about it.

I'm looking to meet people who:

are also neurodivergent (audhd here). have a wealth of different experiences and points of view. anyone who is willing to read and occasionally comment.

My posting schedule tends to be:

I'm aiming for once a week this time around, but may be more or less depending on what's going on in my life.

When I add people, my dealbreakers are:

No TERFs, no centrists or republicans, no Zionists. I don't care if you're personally religious but I'm not and don't appreciate that perspective in regards to my own life. No Harry Potter fans, it's lame if you're still into that given... everything. Don't be a shithead in general. And probably no one under 21.

Before adding me, you should know: Hmm. As I said, there may be the occasional post about mental health/trauma stuff. I'm also regrettably a true crime enjoyer, i rarely talk about it but if I do I'll tag. Unsure about anything else that might be relevant

hierophant [hahy-er-uh-fant, hahy-ruh-, hahy-er-uh-]

noun:
1 (in ancient Greece) an official expounder of rites of worship and sacrifice.
2 any interpreter of sacred mysteries or esoteric principles

Examples:
To the delighted worshipers, Cody Goodfellow, here a Most Exalted Hierophant, delivered a sermon that started with growled mentions of 'doom-engines, black and red,' 'great hammers of the scouring' and so on. ( Elisabeth Vincentelli, A Festival That Conjures the Magic of H P Lovecraft and Beyond, New York Times, April 2022)

The number five also equates to the hierophant card in tarot, which is associated with spiritual guidance and learning. (Olivia Munson, What does 555 mean? Details on what angel number means for your relationships, work life., USA Today, January 2023)

According to local legend, the tradition began as a solution to a severe famine in Bode, with a hierophant suggesting that piercing one's tongue would improve the state's condition. (Ani, Nepal: Bode's 30-year-old Sujan Bagh Shrestha continues century-old annual tongue piercing tradition, Tribune India, April 2025)

At the corner plaques she fitted her movements to their design--wild in Spring, languorous in Summer, in Autumn a bacchanal, in Winter a tempest. Before the throned Ceres she became a hierophant, and her dance a ritual. (John Buchan, The Blanket of the Dark)

The hierophant was a revealer of holy things... It was essential that the hierophant should be a man of commanding presence and lead a simple life. (Dudley Wright, The Eleusinian Mysteries And Rites)

And here, from the venerable hierophant, who from a strict sense of duty had left his sick-bed to come hither and instruct me, the words seemed to possess a peculiar meaning and value; his simple appeal to my own sense of rectitude had all the force of a profound thought extracted from a world of thinking. (Herbert M Vaughan, Meleager)

Origin:
'expounder of sacred mysteries,' 1670s, from Late Latin hierophantes, from Greek hierophantes 'one who teaches the rites of sacrifice and worship,' literally 'one who shows sacred things,' from hieros 'sacred,' from PIE root eis-, forming words denoting passion + phainein 'to reveal, bring to light' (from PIE root bha- 'to shine'). In modern use, 'expounder of esoteric doctrines,' from 1822. (Online Etymology Dictionary)

Hierophant, hieroglyphics, and hierarch have a common root: hieros, a Greek word meaning 'sacred.' Hierophant itself joins the root with a derivative of phainein, which means 'to show.' The original hierophants were priests of the ancient Greek city of Eleusis who performed sacred rites. In the 17th century, when the word was first documented in English, it referred to these priests. By the 19th century, English speakers were using the term in a broader sense. A hierophant can now be a spokesperson, a commentator, an interpreter, or a leading advocate. (Merriam-Webster)
