These days' youth gets the music it deserves. Uninspired, overly happy twenty-four seven, acting like the world's only a party, thinking there are no obstacles to come in the future - that's something only the rotten meat generation over thirty talks about -, and it's as lame to make you fall asleep - speed is an alien concept to it. While the musicians still manage to come up with a catchy tune, as much as that they're free from talent to deliver ambitious lyrics and an ordinary rhyme. So in the end, what they leave behind is an exceedingly kitschy tune with no message, nothing to dream about and nothing more of than what seems to be one of the negative kinds of ecstasy: The world is colored in rose, all is sunshine and happiness forever and for always, darkness is something that doesn't exist, not even in sound and it better shouldn't. Darkness is a cancer that should be erased ("it fucks up the good mood").
In that point, this youth gets the soundtrack that it deserves and where it's going to end at, one will see.

Date: 9 September 2016 01:33 pm (UTC)It came to me after somebody got me a tip for what the kids find "cool" this year. Checked a few things out - and in the end, I must say, I thought already last year that this youth in taste and culture is like a pill for sleeping, but this year there's another little bit on top of that.
Now it seems to be "hip" to listen to House music with vocals and texts like German Schlager. Sometimes more that way as it is famous for, sometimes less, but kitschy and - you think about it "People, please get yourself somebody to write you an ordinary text! You're as bad as an retarded ape!" (Sorry, ape, for using you for that comparison!)
And even about the House music part of it, I think "you make me fall asleep" because no tempo, no interesting synth lines or baselines, no complicated drum stractures. It's just... soulless, mindless stuff that ought to get you cheering all day long although there is nothing to cheer about.
And by the time, I learned you can also play different stuff than this with a Virus TI. Stuff you can rather listen to without complaining too much about it.
I also sometimes complain about Trance in the old days, when they picked normal vocals for it that they could have also come up with a better text, a text saying something meaningful - that's why I still stick to the old Funker Vogt stuff, 'cause technically it's not very far away from Trance, but for once, it chooses lyrics that have a little more meaning behind -, especially I fight with myself in that department when it comes down to Hardstyle; if one wants to sound big, bad, loud and evil, you sure can pick better lyrics than just stiring up the crowd or thinking about below the belt, fucking some chick. Remember that text I wrote recently "Spit on your tomb".
I don't want every song to contain lyrics or vocals, that's the wrong way, but I found until now that there could have sometimes been done a better job. A cleverer job. When it came down to that topic.

Date: 9 September 2016 07:46 pm (UTC)Some musical categories I really don't know what to do with. It seems boring to me and also I rather (seem to) prefer a filled sound setting. Not stuff where you throw in a basedrum, a snaredrum, some hihat or rimshot and a synthesizer line which you can barely recognize as something played by a synth at all into the pot and that's what you call a few minutes of music then.
I can't say like House music never had something like monotonous, repeating pattern going on with it - even in the earlier days. But - I find though, the stuff which they put in some "cliffhanger", it's quite takeable compared to what they produce now and what becomes popular. I think with the newer stuff they've really entered the stage of "everyone sounds like the other". Didn't have this with all material from the 90s. The showed some more ideas how to make a track interesting.
Let me think of a good House track from back then...
Ah, Paffendorf – "Ruf Mich An" (English version: Call Me Now). Actually they put in the section "Hard House", but no matter what, it's clearly not a Trance song and one understands pretty quickly why this thing becomes stuck in your head.
Or, take Hyperlogic's "U got the love". Even in its couple of remixes, it still maintains its position of being some of the better ones. Even is an example of those songs you can say "he did no absolutely bad job in using samples from a previous song".
