You know what mass rallies and protest marches with thousands of people do to the targeted aim? They show it how many people don't like it and who it needs to arrest.
I think with marches they just try to blow off steam. Like peaceful marches are better than violence. They always point at Martin Luther King, who was some sort of minister and fought racial inequality by peaceful protests. They love it. Have zero effect. King's though had some effect but it was rather inevitable and would turn into violence if not addressed plus equality is the issue that does not affect capitalists too much so why the hell not. For other purposes, marches are useless.
Seems like this is what they aim for. In general, a lot of protest culture for the minorities in the US quickly comes down on Mr. King - compared to that, Malcom X is totally forgotten. I don't know anything about what that activist stood for, only thing I know is it was the pendant to King on the side of those people which didn't see meaning in the peaceful way. In other words, that was the non-peaceful side. (I know that much thanks to the Prolekult records that always depictured a politically controversial figure from the leftist spectrum, despite having Trance and Techno as music on them.) But as much as I know that name, I see it missing in today's discussions and living out of protest culture that concentrates on the black&white issue again. Also, the Black Panthers are like no subject in the same materia, those also put their bets on militant fight. (Once read somewhere, rapper Tupac's Mom once had been a member of them. Yes, small world that is...)
The extreme focus on peaceful figures in American protest culture - which later became global protest culture - is what makes me suspect how much of that issue is not in control of those who live it, but in control of those which they want to claim anything from. Because the stigma, it's all the same. Violence bad, peaceful good, although peaceful marches only fetch that from the opponents what can't be rejected to be handed out anymore. Should I just keep thinking this all doesn't follow a certain pattern? I don't know what to do with it.
And in the end, you see, they don't even take King's words to heart. Still people don't get judged by their character, but by the color of their skin if they do mischief. Dark skin - you're a racist even in giving a fair verdict... White skin - "oh, where's the crime in convicting him for smashing a window and stealing a 4K HD TV from it?" At least this is version of things in Europe - one better adds that information to it.
Oh thanks for mentioning Malcolm X, I hardly knew about him but this makes perfect sense- he is not peaceful, they try to erase him from history and who knows what part he and his group played in the issue of equality but alas all the credit goes to religious and peaceful MLK.
Aa I said, I also don't know anything about him and the surroundings of his follower group, the only thing I know is it was like a pendant to King, but on the non-peaceful side. And seeing as the Black Panthers also seem to be up to the same fate - I also only came across their group as a Prolekult record had its "chief" figure (or so) on its inside ring record cover -, I get my impression what game this is. Let's say, like it's been forgotten that punks once were regarded as dangerous thug-like people. Watch a movie from the 80s or 70s, you'll be confused if you don't know that little fact. That's why I have a lot of mistrust towards the issue with the Columbine disciples. The point in developments that spoke to me was that point where the message was "something in this whole society needs to change, something in the whole system", while later everything watered down through the people that came next in the chain, until it finished with Breiviks amok story. And that is totally far away from the problems society has... He's a complete idiot. Ideologically there's nothing contructive to be won from him. I don't know if one should think of anything suspicious with that or not, as that made the previous calls of the chain of teens like it did not exist. But that mix of calls from them is the more interesting thing to look at, if you search for a meter to indicate for you which of all things go the wrong way in this society. - And, as you may predict without me telling you, it's not like anything has changed over that long time episode since then, since these kids decided to kill themselves. So it's still somehow present calls to what needs to change. Making that forgotten, if you wanted to make that happen on purpose, so would make some sense.
