What may the stars sometimes think about this here, if they were creatures?
"Mankind, you're not worth it!"?
Or would they just give no damn, acting like "we have a lot of time to pass, your existence is nothing more than a little note in the logbook of our thousands of years lasting course..."?

Date: 16 December 2018 08:05 pm (UTC)It's more the question of "How would outsiders regard the ongoings here?". Would they say "humans, you're failures!" or would it be, for example, "oh, damn, we got time! humans, don't take yourself too serious and don't spin around in circles around your own problems! there are more creatures out there than you! if you go down, nobody's gonna cry... the next species is in line. so get your shit together, if you think your race matters! your survival's up to you entirely!".

Date: 17 December 2018 09:27 am (UTC)It makes you take an outsider's view from time to time onto what mankind does and what they constantly rave about like there's nothing else of importance in this universe than that.
The truth about this is: The world and the universe has LOTS of time. The shit mankind regards as "highly important" may just only be its very own thing. For the big cosmos, it can be barely more than a footnote.
So, also for the wishes to be saved from damnation, there is to regard as the state of things: If mankind wants to survive, it must rack its own brains. Life itself gives a damn about a single species disappearing. There's always another one in line to take that superior place of the previous one - and if not that, then life just evolves and cuts back lifeforms for a longer time without aim. Life itself will go on without humans...
Ah, I stumbled over that story with Merz also only because other people wrote about it! Gave me a bit of a "Wait, what?!" too.
But just as life is, it's that kind of thing which I don't exclude to happen. It's like "well, I know such things exist".
In regard to how that guy presented itself in context of the election of the new CDU party leader, I think there are many people who will say "suits this guy well".
With regard to that, the party's done the better choice to not elect him for this chair. Even though Kramp-Karrenbauer surely ain't the best either.
