Von der Leyen beerbt Jean-Claude Juncker und wird damit Präsidentin der EU-Kommission.
Im Verteidigungsministerium wird es, trotz des Postenwechsels, weiterhin eine "Flinten-Uschi" geben, sie wird nur "Annegret Krampf-Karrenbauer" (kurz: AKK) heißen.

Der Wahnsinn, der mit dem Personalkarussell der letzten Bundestagswahlen in Gang gesetzt wurde, geht also weiter...

Doesn't seem to surprise anyone any more. After Junker's political stance and screw-ups,it seems like the standards are set very low.

I guess it would be obvious, regarding the dominance of the German state inside the EU, that the next one in this position will again be someone who serves the German interests the most.
Only... after Weber didn't get elected, one didn't calculte with THIS name because she wasn't even elected into the European parliament. Before the election, there was no sign of her name being in the game, not even as a replacement, should Weber fail to get into that position.

And then AKK into the position of the secretery of defense.
This came like... WTF?! It hadn't even been long since she became leader of the CDU party, and now they straight put her into a big position - an office that wasn't even left without scandals and troubles by her predecessor (and which you can expect she's not going to solve either).
...Well, admittedly this issue is surrounded by the rumor that this was a backroom decision that Merkel made on her own, more than the rest of her party or anybody else. Everyone acted literally surprised after these news went around. Because no-one had AKK on their tab for this office.

Only thing this now shows more obviously than ever before what the true face of the EU is if things reach a critical stage.
In the end, they go along with their own plans, if they like to.
And, by the way, the whole construction of the EU system within itself is like a step back to the times of the beginning of the state form "democracy" because, juding by its rules, it's a Rump Parliament ("Rumpfparlament"). More disregarding the actual rules of modern democracy than orientating by them.

It might seem like surprise but isn't the pattern itself pretty common? Like that dude...what's his face? Gunther Oettinger, for example. And yeah, seems like their rules of democracy are being shoved somewhere out of sight.

I guess the level of appointing someone who doesn't even have the slightest bit of democratic-looking legitimation, this is something "new". Or, better say, something that hasn't been there before in that extent with this system.

Oettinger... Another one of those names which you think about "Mars mission? Please put him on the list in one of the first places." (because those are not going to return by hook or by crook)

Yeah, from this point of view when all masks of democracy are off, this is kind of "new". In this case it is pretty scary because when they don't even try to play democracy, expect something very "right", which is very wrong. No pun intended. If it gets to the level legitimacy, everyone should start getting really concerned.

This now is not only some systematic error like having reached the end of wisdowm - it's also a question of quality within the system itself.
For a long time, they somehow succeeded in breeding themselves abled successors who will keep the system up and running.
But since circa 20 to 30 years ago, they became unable to make that.
For a while, of course, you can still keep on existing because you can let the old geezers go on running the business.
But... anytime, they're sick with dementia or dead and can't do that job anymore.

Now seems like a point in time where they reach this limit. Where they have to face they didn't breed any skilled successors anymore - and that's why it all leaves behind the impression to go down the drain.
It's a real struggle for survival of this stunt.
The only thing they have are just idiots which know who to brownnose at the right time, which are ideological fanatics of something, but they have zero experience about how to deal with the reality and the stuff that didn't appear in their textbooks/propaganda handbooks.
There is, in fact, some desperation under the surface - and that's what you get to see by such actions obviously violating the previous rules (meaining: doing them, but not hiding them anymore).
