Mit dem ersten Advent beginnt nun auch wieder die sich jährlich wiederholende Zeit des abgrundtief schlechten Musikgeschmacks: Weihnachtslieder.

Oh, I thought you meant songs by carols. The Christmas decorations also bother me a lot. They start lights and trees and everything early and it is even worse. Looks like people try to brighten up their lives but it doesn't really work, more irritates.

Brightening up their lives - yeah, that's what it seems like.

Ths year - as soon as the first advent was there, all the chains of lights and such stuff popped up in nearly every front garden in the windows of flats.
Like it's a freaking competition who's the first to do it... or who puts up more lights.
