If German gutter press starts to claim to take away a memorial only because it's made of Russian tanks and they abuse the call "Never again Russian tanks in Berlin!", then they don't seem to have gotten the point.

I only see which spectrum this petition comes from; Bild is a conservative CDU-devoted rag since the very first day. BZ I don't know, but if they support such an action, it also tells who's their lord.
For the moment I declare it as an action of propaganda. It's been on for a while that the hunting season for "beating the big bad Russian Putin" had been opened again - but I also regard it with distrustful perception, since, you know, propanda doesn't mean that they don't do it in the end.
I don't consider the political direction that this country has taken in the past years as "good" at all - and who has taken that direction. It is the spectrum which comes up with claims like these.
