As Hitler made the mistake to attack, well, one could bet one's ass on that it wouldn't remain with repeling the attack, but also to reverse the wave which had been getting closer to the Soviet Union over the past decade then anyway. Mental illness - well, it shouldn't be a miracle to find anything highly dysfunctional on that personality. Just only think about his "carreer" - rejected art student, then hobo, then he had been in jail, was there ever a normal regular job to be found that he had once done for a while? Things like that don't speak for very healthy personality. Then came the drug addiction to be a person on a podest that people listen to... Whatever it was what they'd diagnose him by the definitions of today, at least you can' say that he was an uncomplicated character who could satisfy all the expectations and duties of this time that get raised to a man.
